Meeting of the stakeholders in terms of the project “Assessment of the combined effects of hydropower on the ecosystems and the ecological status of rivers – ANCHOR”
On May 30, 2016, at the East Aegean River Basin Directorate (EARBD) – Plovdiv, was held a meeting of the stakeholders in terms of the project “Assessment of the combined effects of hydropower on the ecosystems and the ecological status of rivers – ANCHOR”.
The meeting was opened by the project manager Ventzislav Vassilev. Presented were the objectives and activities of the project and the role of this meeting in the process of drafting and consultation regarding the methodology for assessment of the eligibility for hydropower plants.
The participants were informed about the foreign experience in terms of the project, as well as the results of the pilot testing of the proposed methodology by the East Aegean River Basin Directorate.
The subsequent discussion focused on the criteria for assessment on a level of individual projects and on a level of water body, as well as on the role of the proposed methodology in existing evaluation procedures.
In connection with the future implementation of the methodology, was made a proposal to conduct information seminars in order to increase the capacity of the experts with practical participation in designing and evaluation associated with hydropower plants.
